Cosmopolitan Opens During Tough Local Economy
The newest resort on the Las Vegas strip will open on Wednesday night. This resort is opening at a time when the period is pretty tough for the local economy.
At 8:00 p.m., opens the multi-million dollar Cosmopolitan. It has a 100,000 square foot casino, 2,000 hotel rooms and 12 restaurants. Everything about the hotel is pretty much done, although they are working on the final touches on the hotel.
The resort definitely has a fun, playful side to the property, with 14 restaurants inside as one of the many standouts. On 8.7 acres of land, sits the property. The hotel has a lot to look at, which includes a three-story chandelier made up of two million crystals, digitally animated columns and a huge casino.
Live entertainment is one of the big priorities at the Cosmopolitan, with each bar capable of showcasing DJ’s or live bands.
Managing partner of Marquee Nightclub, Jason Strauss said that the casino also have a 40 foot, $3 million DJ booth stage that the whole world will talk about. He also said that they are about to deliver technology, content and experience-wise, something that the town has never seen.
Many of the rooms have kitchenettes, while seventy percent of the rooms have balconies, with a breath-taking view. On this property, one will find three separate pools. The resort also has retail stores, which are brand new for Las Vegas, as one will not find them in any other location in Las Vegas.
5000 jobs will be generated by the Cosmopolitan, which will help the state as it leads in the nation-leading jobless rate of 14.2%. Analyst Mary Lynn Palenik said that the state’s recovery would likely lag 12 to 18 months behind the rest of the nation.
Director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the University of Nevada, William R. Eadington said that era of new mega-casinos is over. By the gaming industry’s nosedive, too many investors were adversely affected.
